Q-Chat Group Messaging
Q-Chat is optional Qortal group messaging inside NuQloud. It uses your active linked Qortal account and a configured Qortal Hub service. It is separate from Talk, which provides cloud conversations, calls, and meetings, and from Q-Mail.
This guide describes the current shared Hub interface. Providers must deploy matching platform, External Auth, and Hub versions; a source update alone does not prove that a particular cloud has enabled or accepted the new interface.
Before you begin
- Confirm that your provider has enabled Q-Chat for your account.
- Link the Qortal account you intend to use and keep its independent backup.
- Have its wallet password available for the normal unlock prompt.
- Use a group that account already belongs to, or review joining a group.
Joining a Qortal group can incur a QORT network fee. Opening Q-Chat or reading a group invitation does not itself mean you have agreed to join.
Connect your account
- Open Q-Chat from the cloud's app navigation or Dashboard app launcher.
- Select the intended linked account.
- Select Unlock wallet if prompted and enter its password in the NuQloud unlock dialog.
- Select Allow synchronization and review the read permission. It lasts only for the remaining unlock window; synchronization does not extend it.
- Choose a group and channel, then allow its history to synchronize.
The setup prompt can offer an optional Qortal Project community-group join. Skip or dismiss it if you do not want to join. If you continue, review the group and network fee in the confirmation. An invitation-only group may require an invitation before membership can complete.
Send and work with messages
Read permission does not grant publishing permission. When you first send or perform another publishing action, review the separate permission request for the selected wallet and remaining unlock window.
The shared interface supports formatted text, links, mentions, replies, own message edits/deletion, reactions, and images/file attachments up to 8 MiB per file. Channel/category administration requires verified group-admin authority. Controls depend on group and channel permissions.
HTTP(S) links open separately. Supported Qortal app/website links use the NuQloud viewer when Decentralized Apps is enabled; group invitations open the join workflow and still require confirmation. Other Hub protocol actions are not automatically supported by this embedded interface.
Check delivery
Check for a reply from another current Hub client before relying on a newly configured connection. Core peers, data peers, Reticulum connection counts, service health, or a locally accepted send are not delivery receipts.
If a send result is uncertain, inspect history before resending. Repeated manual submissions can create duplicate messages. Wait for a group join to confirm and synchronize before expecting it in your group list.
Current limits and troubleshooting
| Symptom or question | What to check |
|---|---|
| Q-Chat is missing | Ask the provider whether the optional service and your access are enabled. |
| History is empty or locked | Check the selected account, unlock expiry, read permission, group membership, and selected channel. |
| Reading works but sending fails | Review publishing consent and the channel's write permissions. |
| An image does not load | Use Retry when offered; report a persistent error to the provider. |
| The shared interface fails to load | Try Retry Hub interface. Use previous interface, when offered, is a compatibility fallback, not a backend repair. |
| You need direct messages, calls, calendar, or Q-Manager | These are not available in the current embedded entry; use the appropriate separate app. |
Switching accounts or expiring/revoking permission removes the previous account's active chat context. Unlock and approve the intended account again if needed. Report errors without wallet passwords, seeds, private keys, or private messages.
