Set Up Mobile Access
NuQloud works on mobile through the NuQloud App Experience and compatible mobile apps. The mobile app used for NuQloud Talk is currently named Nextcloud Talk in the Apple App Store and Google Play. It connects to your NuQloud account; the store branding does not change where your conversations and meetings are hosted.
Use your normal NuQloud server address and sign-in. Only install the mobile app from the official Apple App Store, Google Play, or a provider-approved source.
Recommended Mobile Sequence
- Install Nextcloud Talk first for calls, chat, and mobile notifications.
- Sign in with your NuQloud server address. Keep your NuQloud Authentication File (
.json) available for the first sign-in on this device; after a successful sign-in it remains saved for future use. - Install the NuQloud PWA next: use Safari on iPhone or iPad, or Chrome on Android. Sign in, then use the Dashboard app-installer action.
- Add the compatible Nextcloud Files app for photo uploads, file access, and uploads from your phone.
The recommended store listings are Talk for iPhone or iPad, Talk for Android, Files for iPhone or iPad, and Files for Android.
What to Install
Most people need:
- The NuQloud App Experience for the Dashboard and browser-based NuQloud features.
- Nextcloud Talk for NuQloud Talk messages, calls, meetings, and mobile notifications.
- Nextcloud Files for photo uploads, file access, and uploads from your phone.
- Calendar/Contacts device sync only if you want NuQloud calendars and contacts in the phone's built-in apps.
The compatible mobile Talk app is focused on communication. Use the NuQloud App Experience for NuQloud-specific Dashboard, publishing, and account tools.
Install NuQloud Talk on Android
- Open Google Play and search for Nextcloud Talk.
- Confirm that the app publisher is the official Nextcloud publisher, then install it.
- Open the app and enter your full NuQloud server address, including
https://. - Continue to the NuQloud sign-in page and authenticate with your NuQloud account.
- Approve the connection when NuQloud asks to authorize the app.
- Allow notifications so you can receive new-message and incoming-call alerts.
- Allow microphone and camera access when prompted, or before your first call in Android settings.
If the sign-in page does not load, re-enter the server address exactly as supplied by your provider. Do not add an app path or a trailing page name unless your provider specifically gave you one.
Install NuQloud Talk on iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store and search for Nextcloud Talk.
- Confirm that it is the official app, then install it.
- Open the app and enter your full NuQloud server address, including
https://. - Complete the NuQloud sign-in and authorization flow.
- Allow notifications for messages and incoming calls.
- Allow microphone and camera access when you join your first call, or enable them in iOS Settings if you previously declined.
Make Sure Calls and Alerts Work
After installation, run this short check while you still have a computer available:
- On the phone, open NuQloud Talk and send a direct message to a colleague or a test account.
- From the other account, reply and make a short audio call.
- Confirm that your phone rings or displays the incoming-call alert.
- Join the call and test the microphone, speaker, and camera.
- Lock the phone, send one more test message, and confirm that the notification arrives.
If alerts do not arrive, see Talk troubleshooting and check the device's notification and Focus/Do Not Disturb settings.
Add NuQloud Calendar to Your Phone
NuQloud Calendar can be used in the browser without additional setup. To have its events appear in your device calendar app, add it through CalDAV.
Android
Use a CalDAV/CardDAV sync app such as DAVx5.
- Install DAVx5 from a trusted app source.
- Add an account and choose the sign-in method for a server URL and username.
- Enter the NuQloud server address or DAV address supplied by your provider.
- Sign in and approve access.
- Select the NuQloud calendars and address books to synchronize.
- Grant DAVx5 permission to access calendars and contacts when asked.
- Open your preferred calendar app and confirm that the selected NuQloud calendars are visible.
If multi-factor authentication is enabled, use a dedicated app password rather than your main sign-in password when the sync app cannot complete the normal authorization flow. Create and revoke app passwords from NuQloud personal security settings; do not share them.
iPhone and iPad
- Open Settings and find the account settings for Calendar.
- Add a CalDAV account.
- Enter the NuQloud server details and sign in. Use the server or DAV address your provider supplies.
- Enable Calendars for the new account.
- Open the Apple Calendar app and check that the NuQloud calendars appear.
Exact Settings labels vary by iOS release. If the normal sign-in does not work with multi-factor authentication, create a dedicated NuQloud app password and use it only for this device connection.
Protect Your Account on Mobile
- Keep a screen lock on the device.
- Install operating-system and app updates promptly.
- Do not enter NuQloud credentials in a browser page that is not your expected NuQloud address.
- Use a dedicated app password for a manual CalDAV/CardDAV connection when multi-factor authentication requires it.
- Revoke an app password and sign out of the app if a device is lost, replaced, or no longer trusted.
Current Mobile Boundaries
- The compatible Talk app supports NuQloud Talk communication, calls, and notifications, but not every NuQloud Dashboard feature.
- Device-calendar integration is separate from the Talk app; configure CalDAV if you want events in the phone's calendar app.
- Features can differ by mobile operating system, app version, and the NuQloud options enabled by your provider.
